Note: The debut makes Sex and the City the top-opening romantic comedy of all time, bypassing the likes of Hitch ($43.1 million), The Break-Up ($39.2 million) and Knocked Up ($30.7 million).

Get Smart, a remake of the classic television spy spoof, sold an estimated $39.2 million worth of tickets during its first three days. Mike Myers‘ The Love Guru, meanwhile, opened at No. 4 with just $14 million.

WALL-E, sold an estimated $62.5 million of tickets in its first three days, said Pixar’s Walt Disney Co parent. Angelina Jolie’s Wanted sold an estimated $51.1 million, exceeding expectations.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army pulled in $35.9 million to debut as the No. 1 weekend film. Meet Dave saw one of the worst openings ever for an Eddie Murphy pic, grossing just $5.3 million.

The latest Batman flick, The Dark Knight, grossed an estimated $18.5 million so far, the most ever for midnight shows. The previous record was held by Star Wars, Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith, which grossed $16.9 million.
The highest single day opening record is currently held by Spider-man 3 which made $59.8 million. The Dark Knight made an estimated around $64 million in its first day.
Some box office experts are saying the Christopher Nolan-directed flick may reach $170 million this weekend.

The Dark Knight earned $43.8 million for the past three days beginning Friday, beating out The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which earned $42.5 million. The total for The Dark Knight rose to $394.9 million.

The Dark Knight took in $26 million to finish as the No. 1 movie for the fourth straight weekend. The weekend lifted the the film to No. 3 on the all-time domestic box-office charts with $441.5 million.
