Derek Hough’s Kissing Cameo with Kate Voegele Talk about job perks: In her upcoming music video for “99 Times,” Talk about job perks: In her upcoming music video for “99 Times,” singer-songwriter Kate Voegele gets to don a fabulous wardrobe, play an empowered woman – and lock lips with Dancing with the Stars pro Derek Hough. The video portrays Voegele, 22, “walking around a room filled with boyfriends who have lied to her and broke her heart,” explains Hough, 23, the co-lead vocalist for the Ballas Hough Band. “At the very end she kisses me and then pushes me down, causing a domino effect with all her past boyfriends.” So, how did it go? “The video was so much fun to shoot and Derek was awesome,” raves Voegele, who also plays Mia on One Tree Hill. “Great dancer, great musician, great kisser. That guy’s got a few things going for him!” Among them, of course, would be Hough’s girlfriend, actress Shannon Elizabeth. But he assures PEOPLE that the on-screen smooch was strictly business. “I didn’t know I would be kissing Kate until about five seconds before we did,” he says. “I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous!” Voegele’s sophomore album A Fine Mess drops May 18. Kate Voegele’s ‘99 Times’ Music Video
Kate Voegele has treated fans with the outing of her music video for single “99 Times”. The singer who plays a musician named Mia Catalano in The CW’s hit TV series “One Tree Hill” is seen playing the song with her band. She is also shown flirting with a bunch of guys lining up in her house.
“It’s supposed to be sort of like guys versus girls,” Kate explained to PopEater about the message behind the video. “They’re any guy that’s ever messed with a girl and I’m any girl who has ever been lied to.”
“99 Times” is taken from Kate’s sophomore studio album “A Fine Mess” which has been in U.S. stores since May 19. “I’m inspired by everyday life and by being busy and by living my life,” she shared on what really inspires her to craft new songs. “I would write a terrible record if I wasn’t busy. All the new experiences, all the travel really inspired me.”
