- The song Peyton sends to Lucas is called "Heartbeats" by José Gonzalez. This song also featured in the season 4 episode "Some You Give Away" when the Ravens won the State Championship and Lucas tells Peyton how he feels.
- This is the first episode of season five that Barry Corbin (Coach Brian "Whitey" Durham) is seen in.
- Lucas: You should consider the Fade-away. Nathan: Fade-away is weak man.
Lucas and Nathan share a similar conversation regarding Fade-aways in the season one episode "Spirit In The Night". Nathan: I don't have a problem with getting open. Lucas: Well you will with me out of the line up. Okay? The Fade-away is a great shot for creating space. You want to work on it or what? Nathan: I don't need to work on it. Apparently he did...
- Peyton: Well I love you for believing that but I have to prove that to myself. I mean... you see that's the thing, and we both have so much we wanna do with our lives and were only nineteen.
Lucas: And Nathan and Haley were a lot younger than that. Peyton: Okay well we see how easy that's been. Come on... in another year. In season three when Peyton asked Jake to marry her she didn't seem to care about being so young then and even mentioned about how it worked for Nathan and Haley.
- In the episode 'My Way Home Is Through You' Lindsay give both Peyton and Brooke a good luck Bamboo. She states that a friend gave it to her when she first started, in this episode we learn that the friend was Lucas.
- When Brooke is bringing Lucas into his hotel room when he was drunk, she called him 'boozy'. A nickname that Dan used for Keith.
- The name of the college that Nathan plays for and Lucas coaches for is Gilmore. Chad Michael Murray played another character interested in a Gilmore, Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls, which he guest starred on.
- During her dinner scene with Lucas Peyton mentions seeing Ryan Adams and Tegan & Sara in concert. Music from both artists have featured heavily in past seasons and Tegan & Sara have previously been mentioned by Peyton in the season one episode "Crash Course In Polite Conversation".
