Mark Schwahn to pen Melrose Place pilot?
Everything old is new again, especially at the CW.
Melrose Place will be getting a makeover and joining the network that hosts 90210, according to a source familiar with the project.
"Melrose Place will shoot a pilot during the regular pilot season," the source said.
But before a beautiful cast (which originally featured Heather Locklear and Rob Estes) can be assembled, a script needs to be written.
Mark Schwahn, creator of the CW's One Tree Hill, is currently in negotiations to write the pilot, the source added.

"ONE TREE HILL" CREATOR NOT PENNING "MELROSE PLACE" PILOT AFTER ALLNotes from the Television Critics Association winter press tour: Sorry, Mark Schwahn. Looks like you won't get to take a stab at creating this generation's Amanda Woodward. At a "90210" press event Monday night, CW president Dawn Ostroff said that Schwahn -- who created and produces locally filmed drama series "One Tree Hill" -- was no longer involved with the in-development relaunch of "Melrose Place." Schwahn inked a deal will CBS Paramount last year that goes into affect this June, and in December last year made headlines for being in negotiations to write the new "Melrose" pilot, which will be produced by CBS Paramount. Now those negotiations seem to be over. Ostroff said a new writer has been chosen but that she couldn't divulge details yet. Even if he had helped forge the new "Melrose," Schwahn wouldn't have been able to stay with that show if "One Tree Hill" were to return for a seventh season. Schwahn recently renewed his contract for that show for one more year. Is his departure from "Melrose" a sign that "One Tree Hill" is coming back? Perhaps. "One Tree Hill" crews have been talking as if a seventh season is a certainty, but Ostroff wouldn't make any official confirmations Monday night. She would only say how pleased she has been with the show and noted it has made huge gains in audience over last year. At this point, the only sticking points for renewal could be with the cast. The major players' contracts all expire after this season, and so far none of the cast have agreed to more seasons -- though many have expressed being open to the idea. Source.
