Dan Humphrey: Dan Humphrey's favorite word is "death." Yeah, we find that weird, too.
But Dan is a romantic whose imagination runs wildly at the worst times. He over-analyzes life and can grow easily frustrated. This young hunk is romantically linked to Vanessa Abrams.
Prior to his relationship with Vanessa, he spent two years being in love with Serena van der Woodsen. So that makes things awkward at times.
Also, Dan has had several writing-related jobs, including an internship at Red Letter, a prominent literary magazine; and a short stint as songwriter/lead singer for indie-rock sensation The Raves. He has a very close relationship with his sister, Jenny and his father Rufus.
Penn Badgley: Penn Badgley starred in McG's drama series "The Mountain," with Barbara Hershey and Oliver Hudson.
The actor was born in Baltimore, but raised in Seattle. It was there that he became actively involved in the Seattle Children's Theater and voice-over work that eventually lead he and his mother to L.A., where he secured an agent.
After relocating, he landed a guest star role on "Will & Grace." After that, he enjoyed recurring roles on "The Young and The Restless," "The Brothers Garcia" and "Daddio" followed.
Penn attended Santa Monica Community College, having already completed his California High School Proficiency Exam at age 14. In his spare time, Badgley enjoys surfing, soccer, skiing, snowboarding, singing and playing the guitar.

Dan - I like him. He is the Seth of GG but that's what I love about him. He is protective, a good brother, a good guy, a good friend. I also like his irony. My favourite scene: the wave. ;D

Haha, that was a great scene, and his talk with Jenny after was HILARIOUS!
I like him a lot as a character, and his depth never ceases to amaze me, I actually never really saw him and Serena together, but it works.

Penn Badgley to Skinny Girls: Eat!
Turn on the TV these days and you're bound to see a ton of young starlets sporting rail-thin limbs, ribs and jutting clavicles on shows like 90210.
But at least one CW leading man doesn't find the 100 pound-and-under club all that hot. Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley recently told PopEater.com that he's happy that his female castmates haven't subscribed to this unhealthy ideal.
"I've never been a proponent of thin L.A. girls," said Penn, who dates co-star Blake Lively. "I hope they eat a double cheeseburger or something."

Penn Badgley’s Got BallsGossip Girl hunk Penn Badgley grows a pair for the latest issue of GQ (the one with necktie naked Jennifer Aniston on the cover). We learn that the 22-year-old actor was named after the Penn tennis balls his dad nervously squeezed during his mom’s first sonogram. Penn also admits that playing Dan Humphrey is way too easy. He says, “I can do this role with my eyes closed and my arms behind my back. What I’m looking for now is something challenging… I always joke with the show’s creators, ‘Anytime you want me to do drugs or contemplate suicide, I’ll do it.’ ” Check out the full slideshow at GQ.com.
