Filmed entirely in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, "Gossip Girl" revolves around the privileged prep school teens on Manhattan's Upper East Side and the anonymous blogger, Gossip Girl, who provides them with the latest rumors about their highly exclusive inner circle. In the series premiere, Gossip Girl is busy spreading the news that "it girl" Serena van der Woodsen has returned to Manhattan after a mysterious and self-imposed exile to boarding school. Serena's best friend, Blair Waldorf, has conflicted feelings about her friend's return since she has enjoyed being the Queen Bee during Serena's absence and might not be ready to relinquish her new position on the social ladder, not to mention the fact that she has always suspected there may be unspoken feelings between Serena and her longtime boyfriend, Nate.

Josh used mainly the names from the book, because basically the characters and plots are different. Thank God Dan is normal because in the book he is creepy. Eric - in the book he is the handsome older brother who studies in Brown...I guess they needed a reason for S to come back home and that's why they changed it. I love Blair and Chuck - Blair is close to the Blair from the book, Chuck is different but I love it. Nate is better in the book then on the show, on the show he is a rather boring character... Jenny looks totally different then in the books. Serena - they made her too innocent on the show...

Haha...I agree with everything you said, especially about Dan. He is really weird and creepy in the books. I am glad they made his somewhat normal in the show.

I thought that this episode was actually pretty interesting (and that isn't because it told so much in one hour) and that is because this particular pilot episode actually showed me that Blair and Serena's characters used to be friends for a long time until Serena slept with Nate who just happened to be Blair's Boyfriend.
