I really love Rufus, he is a great dad and he is also a great guy, a musician. He is also ironic and funny. And last but not least: he is handsome. I've seen him in some other films but paid more attention on GG and then I saw Season 1 of Brothers and Sisters, were he plays.

Congrats to Matthew Settle... But What's Up With Rufus?A big congratulations to Gossip Girl actor Matthew Settle, who just found out he's going to be a dad. Matthew and model/actress wife Naama Nativ are expecting their first child, a rep for the star told to Life & Style magazine. Matthew was bursting with joy at the news during the Hamptons premiere party, an attendee told the magazine. “He was sitting on a golf cart with Naama waiting to be taken up the driveway to the Estate, and he just blurted it out. He seemed so pumped about it, and Naama was glowing. And even though Matthew had to mingle with his cast-mates and the show’s producers during the party, he was so attentive to her. It was sweet.” Less sweet are the Rufus rumors we're hearing. They're semi-spoilery, so they're after the jump... This report from Michael Ausiello, who says he's getting a definite Rufus/Vanessa hookup vibe. Take a look at his interviews from the party -- he talks to Jessica Szohr about the possibilities at about the 2:40 mark. Jessica seems to give the idea credence, but Matthew says it's just Michael's imagination running wild. We hope so. We can't imagine Rufus having a relationship with his teenage son's best friend! Come on, show -- Rufus is the moral center of the Gossip Girl universe. If he goes off the rails, we don't know what we'd do! Source: The CW Source

Happy Birthday, Matthew Settle!Gossip Girl star Matthew Settle celebrates his 39th birthday today! Matthew has a lot to celebrate this year -- his show's a runaway hit and he and his wife are expecting their first child. We hope Matthew has a wonderful day! Matthew's character, Rufus, has also had quite a year, what with reuniting with his ex-wife, breaking up with her again, counseling his teenage children on their love lives and social climbing, dating again, performing with his band Lincoln Hawk, pining over ex-love Lily van der Woodsen, and sleeping with her on her wedding day. Phew! And that was just Season One. Season Two Rufus has been busy chatting up Vanessa (!), and he seems to be playing the field once again -- we just met his latest lady friend in this week's episode. But will he be able to date around once Lily returns to town? Only time will tell... Anyway, we have Matthew to thank for making Rufus and his storylines so engaging. Here's to another year of happiness for Matthew Settle and romantic/family drama for Rufus! Source: The CW Source

Matthew Settle Wants To Go From ‘Gossip Girl’ To ‘Green Lantern’
Before he was Rufus Humphrey on “Gossip Girl” — you know, Dan and Jenny’s oh-so-cool (former) rock star dad — Matthew Settle was Green Lantern. Well, at least for a “Justice League of America” pilot for CBS.
His version was Guy Gardner — who he played as “cheeky, fun, and sarcastic, you know, young, having fun, having power,” Settle told MTV News when we caught up with him before he went a different kind of green for “Wicked”.
“That was years ago,” Settle said, but he wants to do it again, if the filmmakers behind the latest adaptation would consider him (over, say, Ryan Gosling).
“I want to play the Green Lantern,” Settle said. “I’d love to do a comic book hero. Go to the gym, get all buff, puff up. That would be a lot of fun.”
And it’s not just because he wants to join the superhero club — Settle is a genuine fan. “I am a total geek,” he said. “I’m not even a closet comic book geek. I am the comic book geek.”
Settle thinks Green Lantern has the potential to have a better adaptation than Iron Man or Batman, since he’s “somewhere in between.”
“He’d have the cheekiness of Iron Man,” Settle explained, “but he’s a bit more serious, because he’s so powerful. He has the ring. He has a lot of power. He’s one of the most powerful heroes in the comic book universe.”
Can you envision Matthew Settle as Green Lantern? Do you think he has a chance? Who would you like to see in the role?

Matthew Settle, Wife Excited For Birth of First ChildMatthew Settle is having problems with fatherhood on Gossip Girl as Rufus Humphrey, whose children, Dan and Jenny in particular, are proving to be handful. But the actor is "thrilled" to be an expectant father in real life. "I'm not ready. I don't think I'll ever be ready," he told People magazine at Tavern on the Green on Tuesday night. "But I'm thrilled." Settle and his wife, model Naama Nativ, enjoyed a dinner to benefit the Tribeca Film Institute after attending a screening of Quantum of Solace. "We're having a girl," added pregnant Nativ, who also was in You Don't Mess with the Zohan. "It's going amazingly. I love it. He's very happy, very excited." In describing the feeling of being a first-time parent, the Gossip Girl star invoked one of Jack Nicholson's most memorable As Good As It Gets quotes. "Before you have a child, everything is about you," Matthew Settle explained. "But my wife, and us having a child, makes me want to be a better man." While art is known to imitate life, in this case, the dad-to-be claims that his character on Gossip Girl, Rufus, "is helping inform my real life." But when it comes to picking a name for the baby, they are still undecided: "We're not sure yet ... we'll see," said Nativ. "I want Angelica."
