Burbank, CA (September 15, 2008) ─ ONE TREE HILL and The USO have joined forces to offer Marines and ONE TREE HILLfans a unique “USOTH” concert experience. The CW’s hit drama series will film a live concert featuring Angels & Airwaves, with military personnel in attendance at the Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina on Friday, September 19. In a case of life imitating art, the ONE TREE HILL/USO concert will be integrated into a storyline on the November 10 episode in which Peyton (Hilarie Burton), owner of her own record label, produces a USO concert at a Marine base where her brother is stationed. ONE TREE HILL cast members will be in attendance, and anyone with a military I.D. is invited to attend the concert. Alternative rock group Angels & Airwaves, ONE TREE HILL star Bethany Joy Galeotti, featuring Enation, and ONE TREE HILLrecurring guest star Kate Voegele, currently on a nationwide University of Phoenix Tour, are the featured performers of “USOTH.” “Our best days at ONE TREE HILL are days when we can give back, so we’re thrilled to be able to bring a night of great music and entertainment to the Marine Corps Air Station New River, and to all members of the Department Of Defense who selflessly protect and defend the country we love,” said executive producer Mark Schwahn. “We’re appreciative not only to the artists who are donating their time and talents, but also to the USO and the military personnel who have worked with us to make this event a reality.” “We are looking forward to having this unique event offer an opportunity for the Marines and families to have some fun while also building morale as they enjoy the concert and experience the filming of a television show,” said Col. Darrell Thacker, Jr., Commanding Officer of Marine Corps Air Station New River. Now in its sixth season, ONE TREE HILL, which airs on Mondays (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET), has offered its fans many unique opportunities to interact with its characters and their storylines outside of traditional television viewing, including the “One Tree Hill Concert Tour” in 2005 and “Road Trip to Honey Grove, Texas” in 2007. The series was created by Mark Schwahn and is executive produced by Schwahn, Joe Davola, Greg Prange, Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins. ONE TREE HILL is a Mastermind Laboratories and Tollin/Robbins Production in association with Warner Bros. Television. www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20080915cw01

It’s not every day you get to meet your favorite character on a hot CW drama but many fans of One Tree Hill did just that! The show taped an episode at Marine Corps Air Station New River Friday night. Military families were able to catch a glimpse of the stars and enjoy a live concert. Big name stars like Sophia Bush and Ashley Rickards hung out with fans, signing autographs. Music group, Angels & Airwaves expressed their gratitude towards are troops by giving a free concert. All musicians and One Tree Hill cast members say they simply wanted to say thanks to our marines and sailors. Hilarie Burton from One Tree Hill says, “This is our generation. This is the generation that’s fighting for us and putting their lives on the line for us and to be able to come out and do something like this for them it’s rewarding.” Burton says the cast may visit our troops in the Middle East for thanksgiving. Enation, Bethany Galeotti and Kate Voegele also performed. Click here for the video!

it was a lot of fun! I didn’t stay through Angels and Airwaves, but I did watch Bethany’s husbands band Enation, and Bethany, and Kate Voegele and they were great. Bethany did AMAZING! she even impressed my step-father and he is this hard core Lt. Col. who really isn’t fond of any music thats bee made after 1970 sooo. yea.
I dont wanna put any spoilers or anything but they did kinda film scenes. Just Peyton introducing the acts but it does give somthing away. Ummmm.. Chad and James weren’t there. But Bethany was taking pictures with people, I was in the middle of the crowd in the front and I couldnt even get out if I wanted to so I didn’t get a picture with her. I just know because my mom and step-dad were in the bleachers and they told me when we were leaving. Saw Sophia, she was too cute and I have never seen her in person but shes a lot shorter then i thought. But she had this really cute purple dress on and she was taking pictures.
The scene stealer at least for us in the front was def. Jackson He was too freaking cute, waving at people when we first spotted him and we taking pictures he was all excited and when he was on stage he took his moms camera and was filming the crowd. And when I was leaving we were walking across the lawn and he was walking back towards the stage with his mom and his little brother i guess and he had a funnel cake and I said “hey little dude” and he waved.
there were a couple other people there but I dont wanna spoil it because they are characters that aren’t on right now- but i guess they are returning.
I did get pics on my phone, but its a new phone and i don’t have the usb cable yet, but I’m sposed to get it tomorrow. So hopefully I can upload and edit my pics and vids. Tons of people got in with cameras and stuff they weren’t checking bags or anything.

'One Tree Hill' puts on one great concertThe CW television network brought a little bit of Hollywood to New River Air Station Friday night. The show "One Tree Hill," which films in Wilmington, moved filming to the air station to tape a concert with Bethany Joy Galeotti featuring Enation, Kate Voegele and Angels & Airwaves for part of an episode that is slated to air later this season. The concert was free and open to Department of Defense cardholders and their sponsored guests. "Obviously we're very excited about entertaining our fans, but I think we're even more excited about entertaining our military," said Hilarie Burton, who plays Peyton Sawyer on the show. Burton, whose father was an Army Green Beret, said the military holds a special place in her heart. "Obviously I want to reach out to as many military personnel as possible," she said. "It feels overwhelming and very humbling to be around a group of my peers who have done things that I would never have the courage or the guts or the stamina to do ... It's very humbling." Sgt. Robert Bolar, who is stationed at Camp Lejeune, said he appreciated the free concert. "It's actually nice for this to happen because nothing like this happens around here a lot," he said. "I'm glad they're out here to support us. It's time to give a little bit back." Putting on the concert for military members was one way for the cast members of "One Tree Hill" to show their support for the military, said Ashley Rickards, who plays Samantha Walker on the show. "Marines work so hard, they give so much to our country... hopefully we can give a fraction of that back to them," Rickards said. "Every time I see one of them walk by on the street I just want to start clapping. I really appreciate everything they do, and I just honor them so much." Cpl. Sean Hackney drove from Cherry Point to fulfill a longtime wish to see Angels & Airwaves perform live. "I've been trying to see these guys since 1999," he said. "This is awesome that they're doing this." Some even drove from Wilmington for the event. "I think that it's great," said Rachel Whiteside. "I think that the military does so much for our country at this time, just to do this concert is a small token." Tom Delonge, frontman for Angels & Airwaves, said the event was not only good for his band, but he also appreciated the chance to play for the troops, especially because he has a brother in the military. "To come here and play this big show for the troops is amazing," he said. For Burton, it was a chance to show that actions speak louder than words. "Everybody says ‘I support the troops,'" Burton said, "but not a lot of people make the effort to hang out." Source
