'One Tree Hill' ready to play ball - slamball, that isAll the "One Tree Hill" rumors are pointing to a story arc that involves a new sport called slamball. The rumor was mostly confirmed last week during a tour of EUE/Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington. Guides pointed out a soundstage filled with trampolines and a basketball goal. According to SlamBall.net, the high-energy, full-contact sport was invented in California by Mason Gordon. It is described as a combination of basketball, football, hockey and gymnastics. Two teams wearing what look like boxing helmets jump on four springboards built into the court, fly through the air and try to dunk basketballs into a goal before defensive men knock them down. The playing area is about the size of a basketball court and is surrounded by Plexiglas walls that keep the ball in constant play for four, five-minute quarters. James Lafferty, who plays an injured former NBA hopeful, will be central to the "One Tree Hill" storyline. According to Markethingych.com, Lafferty's character, Nathan, will play for a team named the Slashers and have difficulty keeping a promise to his wife and son that he will not sacrifice his health again.
