There have also been rumors circulating that Drew Barrymore will be directing the third installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Series. These rumors are false. Due to the New Moon production schedule for director Chris Weitz, his brother and co-owner of “Depth of Field Productions” - Paul Weitz - will be directing Eclipse. Chris Weitz is about to start directing “New Moon” but will still be in post-production when the third film starts shooting. Just last week, Summit officially announced “Eclipse” will be released in theaters June 10, 2010. Eclipse will NOT be filmed back-to-back with New Moon, and there will be completely separate casting cycle. Details about future auditions and open casting calls for Eclipse can be found on the following auditions website: acting411.blogspot.comSource: L3

June next year???
Wow aha... they sure are releasing them quick, thats only an 8 month wait after New moon! It's exciting though, I'm definately not complaining!!
Good to hear that Chris' brother will be directing it, I was worried about completely different directors because in case the CGI -which will need to be used for the wolves- looked completely different from movie to movie (which would suck) But as they're brothers it means they can work together on the editing!
Thanks for the info Mariska! ;D

Yeah, it was about to be time, isn't it? It comes out here on April 3th, so less than a month left! And I told my library last week that it comes out that, so they will order it for me! I asked them to get it already in September, because they said on internet that it would come out back than, but there were a lot of problems, but now it finally comes out!! And I can't wait to read it!!!

I just found this:
Q: Talk about systems overload, in the midst of filming the next two Twilight movies, we hear you’re also going to be starring as Joan Jett in The Runaways?
A: Yes. We’ll be shutting down for eight weeks in between New Moon and Eclipse and that’s when I’ll do it. Right now I’m just listening to Joan’s music all the time. I spent New Year’s with her.
The answer is from Kristen herself. So there is an 8 week break in between.

Exclusive - David Slade Talks 'Twilight: Eclipse'
Twilight: New Moon isn’t even in theatres yet, but we are already gearing up for the third film, Twilight: Eclipse. We crashed a David Slade signing at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, California, where he was signing a new line of toys based on 30 Days of Night. “One of the cool things about shooting a movie based on a book is that it is not a film the studio can really change,” he tells us. “Not that the studio would want to change anything, of course!” David promises that they will stick close to the book – there is no sense in changing the story at all.' Hit the jump for more.
What will differ about Slade’s Twilight? “I don’t really know. We haven’t even started shooting yet.” While the director says he has a basic idea of what he wants to do with it, he is more concerned with telling a good story than being “different.” “It is darker, and there is a lot more action than the previous two,” he admits. “The third book is from Bella’s point of view, but the film will be more objective.” And just how will he do that? “We are going to focus on the origin stories of several characters, like Jacob, and show how Bella will decide between Edward and Jacob.”
David didn’t read the books until the studio was interested in bringing him in – then he did his homework. “It was tough for a middle-aged man to get into,” he admits, “since they are written for 15-year-old girls. But once I got past that, I found them to be quite good books, and a great story.” He is especially excited about the great script from Dexter writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg. Right now, they are still in preproduction, with plans to start shooting later in the year.
When asked about his list of genre credits (including 30 Days of Night, Hard Candy, and mind-bending music videos for bands such as Aphex Twin, Stone Temple Pilots, and System of a Down), Slade admits to being a genre fan. “How many other chances do you get to create your own world from scratch?” He also tells us: “When I first got cable, I watched FEARnet constantly. I really loved Midnight Meat Train. I wanted to direct it – the studio sent me the script – but in the end I was a little too late.” While nothing post-Eclipse is written in blood, he is looking at a few other projects, all in the horror/fantasty/sci-fi genre.

I really don't want him to direct Eclipse He doesnt even seem like he likes the stories... after all he did say that in an interview a while ago, but now he's 'suddenly' changed his mind on it. And he's trying to make it sound like a complete action film which its not supposed to be! Its only the end thats kind of got action in it.. Plus he definately sounds more team Jacob judging by his interviews, which definately isnt good! Haha. But yeah.. I'm trying not to judge him before filming begins because he might turn out to be really good, but it just seems like he lacks enthusiasm for the story, like to him its 'just a job' which isn't the case with Chris and Catherine. Plus none of his films he's done are good. At least with Chris I actually love some of his, like 'about a boy' for example. I wish Chris could direct Eclipse

I totally agree with you, Emma, but I'm not sure we have any say in who is going to direct this movie! I just hope that he changes when he sees the second movie and make it as good as it should be!
I just really don't like that they change directors for every movie! It's a follow up, so the story has to fit and that can't with someone else directing it! I also don't get why this movie has to come out in July, while there is a year between Twilight and New Moon too! And look at Harry Potter, the last one released like 2 years ago, so I don't see why they are hurrying Eclipse so much!

Yeah I think they should spread them out more, and keep the same director, after all the only reason that Chris can't do eclipse is because of lack of time, considering this is being filmed in August and New moons being released in November- he needs to work on post production on that first.
But if they decided to delay eclipse then he could direct that as well, I wish they would! But yeah you're right, its not like we can choose- if only we could though! haha
Although, I kind of get why they're hurrying on the filming.. its so the actors playing the Cullen's won't age much seeing as they're not supposed to at all in the books, but yeah I agree- I don't understand why they're bringing this out in June, they should release them yearly every November, and kind of stick to the same pattern..
But yeah, this might turn out good.. just so long as he keeps the changes Chris has made, I hope so!
