READ ALL ABOUT IT: 'Twilight' captivates readers of many different interests Jul 17, 2008 @ 12:00 AM The Herald-Dispatch
"About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was part of him -- and I didn't know how potent that part might be -- that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."
With a tip like that written on the back of a book, the intrigue jumps off the page and brings readers in. "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer attracts readers of many different interests. The novel wraps thriller, action, horror, mystery and romance into one brilliant masterpiece that sends readers out thirsting for more.
Isabella Swan, or Bella, moves reluctantly to Forks, Wash., to live with her father. Little did she know, the school she attends is home to five animal-eating vampires. One vampire in particular sparks her interest from the start: Edward Cullen. Edward and Bella are immediately attracted to each other, but for reasons that are out of the ordinary. Obviously, because Bella is human and Edward thirsts for human blood, a relationship is a difficult thing to maintain. With obstacles and hoops they must endure, the novel takes your breath away leaving you tense and hungry for more of Edward and Bella's forbidden love.

'Twilight' Mania
Have you heard of "The Twilight Saga"? This series of young adult novels is so popular, its fans so rabidly devoted, almost every review compares it to "Harry Potter." The books follow a teenage girl who falls for a vampire.
Could this steamy (yet chaste) love story dethrone the boy wizard?
It has a way to go. In terms of sales, the 8 million copies of "Twilight" sold pales next to the 400 million of "Potter."
But "Twilight" has momentum: Three books have been published, a final installment is due in August, and there's a highly anticipated film adaptation due out this winter. Plus, every time new information on "Twilight" comes out, searches related to the series spike — high.
What are these fans searching for? Here's a sample of the hottest queries:
The Twilight Lexicon, the center of fandom for the series on the Web. Fans are known as Twilighters (aka Twi-Hards). There are Twilight moms, too.
Fictional hotties from the "Twilight" universe: vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black.
Author Stephenie Meyer is a Mormon, former scrapbooker and mother of three.
The photogenic young cast of the "Twilight" movie: Rachelle Lefevre, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Cam Gigandet and Taylor Lautner.
Parties for the Aug. 2 North American release of the fourth and final novel in the series, "Breaking Dawn."
Blog entries and interviews by "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke.

Stephenie Meyer's chaste vampires lure young readers Fiona Purdon July 19, 2008 12:00am
STEPHENIE Meyer has bewitched several million readers, mainly female, with her Twilight series of vampire novels.
The secret to her spell is that her lead character is modelled on three of the most enduring romantic heroes in English literature.
Speaking to me over the phone from her home in rural Arizona, Meyer, 34, revealed that Twilight's vampire Edward Cullen, a literary creation set to rival Harry Potter, is a subconscious combination of her three favourite leading men _ Jane Eyre's Edward Rochester, Pride and Prejudice's Fitzwilliam D'arcy and Anne of Green Gables' Gilbert Blythe.
Meyer says she simply wrote the stories she wanted to read.
``I've never had the confidence to be an author so everything has taken me by surprise, she says. ``It's still surprising, it doesn't seem real, it's a big departure from reality. I live a fairly normal life with my family but this new world, I don't quite believe in yet.
``My story is not how it normally happens. I wrote a book in three months, I got an agent in a month, a deal the next month and then the success of the books. Why is it happening to me? It's hard to comprehend. It's mind-boggling.''

Aww, i find it so cool that Edwards based on Mr Darcy and Gilbert Blythe! ... Mr Darcy especailly Its really cool thats shes based each of the books on old english literature, like twilight on pride and predjudice, new moon on romeo and juliet... etc Its also great that she seems so normal, it makes it more even better that the books are doing so well for her, instead of some arrogant richer person succeeding for example ;D

Twilight series facts to sink your teeth into Palmbeachpost.com By Rachel Sauer Monday, July 14, 2008
You might be wondering what all the furor is about. After all, nowhere does Harry Potter appear in these books, yet fans will line up at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 2 to buy their copies of Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book in Stephenie Meyer's tremendously popular Twilight series.
Much like that underage wizard, the Twilight books - Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse - began as underground favorites and spilled, through fervent word of mouth, onto bestseller lists. Breaking Dawn will have an initial printing of 3.2 million.
Curious now? Here are a few more interesting tidbits about the Twilight books:
Author Stephenie Meyer, a stay-at-home mother of three, writes on her Web site (www. stepheniemeyer.com) that the idea came to her in a dream. She dreamed the scene with Bella and Edward in the woods, and sat down the next day to write that scene, followed by the rest of Twilight, and filled in the beginning.
The series begins with Twilight, in which 17-year-old Bella Swan moves from Phoenix to Forks, Wash., to live with her father so her mother can travel with her new husband. Bella, who feels like an outsider, is captivated and ultimately smitten with her biology lab partner, Edward Cullen.
He's a vampire, part of a family of seven vampires who came together for companionship and protection. Unfortunately, unlike the Cullens, who hunt animals for their blood sustenance, there is a rogue group of vampires on the loose who hunt humans.
To say any more would be to spoil the plot of the books, but suffice it to say, werewolves come into play.
Twilight was released in October 2005 with an initial printing of 75,000. Since then, 3.3 million copies have been printed. Together, the three books have spent 35 weeks at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.
Eclipse, the third novel in the series, was a No. 1 bestseller in Germany, Spain and Argentina, as well as the United States.
A movie version of Twilight will be released Dec. 12.
A special edition of Eclipse contains iron-ons saying "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob," for fans who favor Edward Cullen or Jacob Black, Bella's friend who harbors a mighty crush on her.
Several area bookstores will be open at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 2 for the Breaking Dawn release, including the Barnes & Noble stores at 10500 W. Forest Hill Blvd. in Wellington, 3001 N.W. Federal Highway in Jensen Beach, 11380 Legacy Ave. in Palm Beach Gardens, 333 N. Congress Ave. in Boynton Beach and 1400 Glades Road in Boca Raton; and Borders stores at 9887 Glades Road in Boca Raton and 3066 N.W. Federal Highway in Jensen Beach.
