Taylor Swift: Happy Thanksgiving!


Taylor Swift just expressed her appreciation for winning the Favorite Female Country Artist at Sunday’s 2008 American Music Awards. She blogged:

“You DID IT!!!! IJREKLNVKDSLJBFL KXCMFLJEWLK THANK YOU!!! I can’t tell you how thankful/amazed/excited/ecstatic/overjoyed/blown away I am that you won me my FIRST American Music Award! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again now.. There’s nothing like a fan-voted award. They mean so much to me. When I heard my name called, I was thinking to myself ‘I can’t believe they did this for me. I can’t believe it!’ All the signings and meet and greets and concerts and faces were running through my head, as I ran up the stairs to go accept an award you won for me. I’ve always wanted an American Music Award, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have you out there doing these things for me. I’m so thankful for you, and your huge signs you make and hold up at my concerts. I’m thankful for the handmade t-shirts with song lyrics painted on them, and the scrapbooks you give me filled with pictures of us. I’m thankful for the people I’ve taken arm’s-length pictures with, and for the people who put my songs up as their profile song on MySpace. The 18-year-old country cutie will co-host with actor L.L. Cool J and perform alongside Celine Dion, B.B. King, John Mayer and the Foo Fighters in the special concert airing Wednesday night @ 8 PM ET on CBS.

Taylor will take a hand in announcing the 51st Grammy nominations and set the stage for the award show set to be held on Sunday, February 8, 2009.

Taylor Swift Sings Grammy Style


Taylor Swift channels her inner Brenda Lee and belts out the 1960 hit song,p “I’m Sorry” to a full audience at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old songbird hosted the Grammy Nomination Concert Live last night with actor L.L. Cool J and performed alongside Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion and the legendary B.B. King. Taylor took to the stage with “I’m Sorry” and finished off with her second single, the beautiful ballad “White Horse.”

Taylor Swift stopped by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday to perform her new hit song “White Horse.” The country superstar also stopped by for a quick chat with the talk show host:

On her 19th birthday next week: “Yes! I’m gonna celebrate with my band and have an end of the year party. And I need new glasses. And a boyfriend! (smiles)”

On one super excited fan of hers: “There was this little girl that I met outside the hotel. She was about 8-years-old and she came up to me. She said, ‘I’m so glad that I got to meet you because yesterday, I spent the entire day going from floor to floor of the hotel and screaming your name.’ And there are 20 floors of that hotel! That’s dedication, so I was happy to meet her.”

Taylor Swift: Christmas Tree Farm-Raised

Taylor Swift appeared and performed on Friday’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The almost-19-year-old country superstar sang her hit song “White Horse” and told a great story about being raised on a Christmas Tree farm.

She shared, “Yes! I did [grow up on a Christmas Tree farm], so this is a good season for me. I was too young to help with the hauling of the trees up the hills and putting them onto cars. So, it was my job to pull off the preying mantis pods off of the Christmas trees. The problem with that is if you leave them on there, people bring them into their house. I forgot to check one time and they hatched all over these people’s house. And there were hundreds of thousands of them. And they had little kids, and they couldn’t kill of them because that’d be a bad Christmas.”

Country cutie Taylor Swift just posted a new video on Celebrity MySpace, chronically all her holiday festivities in a mere five minutes.

The 18-year-old Fearless songstress is seen carrying around a package of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls in her purse for herself and BFF Abigail to bake, giving all her female relatives makeovers at Thanksgiving, and getting lost driving back to Nashville from St. Louis! Taylor even joked about autographing her CD for her relatives as well, saying, “Of course it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without this.”

Taylor Swift Will Ring In New Year’s Eve… with The Jonas Brothers


Taylor Swift is the newest addition to dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Celebration, NBC just announced today!

The 18-year-old Fearless songbird will join country charmer Kellie Pickler, The Jonas Brothers and Lionel Richie in New York City’s Times Square with host Ryan Seacrest and dick Clark. Fergie will host the party in L.A. with Jesse McCartney, Natasha Bedengfield, Fall Out Boy and many others.

The festivities will start @ 10PM ET/PT on December 31st on NBC!

Taylor Swift: I Like To Write Songs About Boys


Country songbird Taylor Swift takes center stage in the January issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

The 18-year-old AMA winner told the magazine, “When I made my first album, I was 16. Now I’m 18. You can’t help but grow in those two years. It wasn’t anything I was trying to do. It’s just one of those things you can’t help but happen. I like to write songs about boys, and I love to write songs about relationships. And that hasn’t changed.”

Taylor Swift: I Love Christmas!


Taylor Swift puts on her best Christmas red and stops by The Last Call with Carson Daly on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old Fearless female told Carson about her love for the holiday season. She shared, “I love Christmas. I grew up on a Christmas tree farm and we sold Douglas Fir Christmas trees. People would come to our house and we would sell them Christmas trees and we always picked ours first. We would have this one family who always got the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. We had that customer every year who would always want the really ugly one.”

The 19-year-old country charmer told Jay Leno earlier this month how she was going to celebrate her birthday. She shared, “Yes! I’m gonna celebrate with my band and have an end of the year party. And I need new glasses. And a boyfriend.”

Taylor was also honored at the 10th Annual Family Entertainment Awards last night which aired on the CW. She was recognized as being a great role model. Congrats Taylor!

Taylor Swift — Inside Her Birthday Bash!


Taylor Swift didn’t need or want a hot Hollywood club birthday party. Instead, she opted for a party at home with family and friends.

The 19-year-old country cutie made her party a homemade affair, having the big bash at her home in Tennessee and was surrounded by her band, family and friends, People reports. The biggest splurge she made was possibly the buffet table, which was covered with sushi, mini beef Wellingtons and bacon-wrapped scallops. She had two ice cream cakes — chocolate peppermint and cookie dough — that came from Cold Stone Creamery. Yummy!

Taylor and her guests even had a fun ping-pong tournament that was won by her manager.

The shooting death of Lawrence King, a 15-year-old student who was killed for being homosexual, shocked not only his school and town, but the entire nation.

She shares with the mag, “I write songs about the things that happen to me, because it helps me figure them out. Writing songs is like breathing for me.”

Taylor Swift Gets Her Wisdom Teeth Pulled


Ouch! Even though Taylor Swift had her wisdom teeth pulled, she endured the pain and took the time to update her fans on her MySpace.

Here’s what the 19-year-old “Love Story” singer said: “So I’m laying in bed, half asleep. I got my wisdom teeth taken out the day before yesterday, and I’m feeeeling it. Yeah. It’s forcing me to sit still for a few days, which I probably needed. Caitlin, Grant, and Paul (my band mates) are on their way over to keep me company. Yayyy.

“I had my birthday party/end of the year party/Christmas party on the 13th.. My entire band and crew came out to the house and honestly, it was the best birthday I’ve ever had. Everyone was all dressed up and the house was decorated for Christmas and everyone was so happy. We played all these games, one where each person gets to pick a present from under the tree and you can choose to steal presents from other people. Then there was the ping pong competition, which was pretty hardcore. We had a fire pit outside and we made s’mores. It was a blast. Then almost everyone stayed really really late and jammed. We all had guitars and were singing together.. So much fun.

“Then I got my wisdom teeth taken out, went into a never-ending sleep, and when I woke up— I was told about Fearless going BACK to number one on the all-genre albums chart! I can’t BELIEVE it! I never thought that would happen!! I can’t thank you enough for that. It’s just so amazing. You gave me something really wonderful to wake up to.”

Taylor Swift: I Dressed Like A Guy


Taylor Swift will be featured alongside Zac Efron, The Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus in a special edition of E!’s True Hollywood Story this Friday.

The two-hour program will dive into the 19-year-old Nashville princess’s life - from her childhood to the top of the charts. Here are some highlight’s from Taylor’s interview:

On auditioning for a boy’s part in the school play: “All these guys lined up to audition and at the end of the line, there I am, auditioning for it because I didn’t care. I was like, ‘I will dress up like a guy, and I want to sing that song.’ I had like a mustache, and we drew on eyebrows and put all my hair up in this hat, and I dressed like a guy and sang the solo.”

On her music influences: “I was really into LeAnn Rimes and Shania Twain and Faith Hill and the Dixie Chicks. Ever since I discovered their music I wanted to do country music. I wanted to sing country music. Didn’t matter if I lived in Pennsylvania. Didn’t matter if everybody at my school was like, ‘You - you? Play country music? Why do you like country music? You’re so weird.’”

On traveling to Nashville to launch her singing career: “I walked into every single record label on Music Row. My mom would park the rental car outside the label and wait, and I would run in my little demo CD and walk up to the receptionist and say, ‘Hi, I’m Taylor, I’m 11, I want a record deal, call me.’”

On making friends in school: “In middle school I had to face a situation where I would literally walk up and sit down at a lunch table full of girls and they would all get up and leave as soon as I sat down.”

On her music: “I like to write songs about boys. I like to write songs about relationships. It’s really, really fun for me to tell stories that have actually happened.”

On her Myspace: “I made my MySpace really personal. [It] was never a promotional thing for me. It was more of a way to get in touch with people, and now I have like a million friends, and I’m still keeping up to date with it. It’s something I do every day.”

Taylor Swift's Sales Surpass 5 Million

Taylor Swift has officially sold more than 5 million albums, combining her 2006 self-titled debut (3.7 million units) and this year's Fearless (1.5 million units). She was also named the best-selling country artist of 2008 by Billboard magazine and ranked fourth in sales among all genres, behind Josh Groban, Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus. Swift was also named country music's top songwriter of 2008. She appears in the January issue of Vanity Fair, as well as the upcoming E! special, Young Hollywood From A to Zac.

Taylor Swift is Sundress Sweet


Taylor Swift covers the newest issue of ForUs Magazine.

The 19-year-old Nashville princess dished to the magazine about designing sundresses, college plans and fellow country royalty, Faith Hill.

On her first foray into designing her own fashions: “Everyone’s suffering because of the current state of the economy, so I try to be as conscious of that as possible when I make decisions. I’m in the process of designing a line of sundresses for L.E.I., so be sold exclusively as Wal-Mart. Dresses are what I wear most, so I’m really excited for them to come out!”

On one of her fave celebs: I was always so nervous to meet her and when I finally did at the ACM’s in 2007, she was the sweetest celebrity I’d ever met. She and Tim McGraw took me out on tour with them as their opening act that summer, and Faith would always leave presents in my dressing room.

On the benefits of post-high school education: “I’ve always thought that college makes you a well-rounded person. It’s about the experiences you gather and the life lessons you learn, and it teaches you how to be independent. If I were to take classes later on in life, it would probably have something to do with video editing. I’m really fascinated by all of that.”

On her new album, Fearless: “I think being fearless means that you’ve got a lot of fears, but you jump anyway. I have a new favorite [song] every day. Right now, my favorites on the album are ‘You’re Not Sorry’ and ‘White Horse.’”

Taylor Swift is AOL Awesome


Taylor Swift strums on her guitar in four new performances from AOL Music Sessions.

The 19-year-old country cutie performed four songs off of her sophomore album, “Fearless”, “White Horse”, “Change”, and “Love Story.” Taylor indulged AOL with little tidbits about fairy tales, making her mom cry and hearing her own songs on the radio.

On her favorite fairy tale: “The one I loved the music to the most was ‘The Lion King.’ There are about 4,000 videos of me as a little kid singing ‘Lion King‘ songs. Like, running up to random strangers on the beach and just breaking out in song!”

On the best gift she gave her mom, Andrea: “I started writing it ['The Best Day'] in the summertime last year, and I decided I wasn’t going to play it for my mom until Christmas. So I finished the song secretly [and] recorded it completely without her knowing. I synched it up with all these home videos of me when I was little with her, and I made this music video for it. On Christmas Eve, I put it in the DVD player and played it for her. She didn’t know that it was me singing until about halfway through the song, at which point she burst out crying. It’s probably one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever written. My mom and I have been best friends since I was born. So I’m really glad that I got that down on CD.”

On her love for Jesse McCartney: “Jesse McCartney — it’s like a complete Jesse McCartney phase, all of his albums. I have this giant Jesse McCartney playlist right now. So that’s probably my big shocking music fascination right now.”

On listening to her songs on the radio: “I’ll listen to it [my songs], but I want to check the other radio stations to make sure that one of the songs I really love isn’t on. If there’s a song that I’m a big fan of, I’ll change it to that. But if nothing else is on, I’ll turn it up and be like, ‘Yes!’ I still have that moment. That never gets old when your song is on the radio.”

Taylor Swift Rocks Reindeer Sweater

Taylor Swift took to her MySpace today to update her fans on all her holiday happenings.

The 19-year-old country cutie writes, “I’m sitting in my kitchen, wondering what to do today. And that brings up an interesting point.. I can’t remember the last time I thought ‘What am I going to do today?’. Nothing planned! So this is a nice change, and it’s been an awesome Christmas break for me. We’ll start with the wisdom teeth. Mission accomplished. They’re out. That happened a few days after my birthday (’Happy Birthday, we’re going to yank your teeth out now’) and then I was in bed for a good three days. My band was amazing, they came over and sat with me and we watched CSI. Then, I caught up on Christmas shopping all during the week before Christmas.

“Abigail’s [my BFF Abigail Anderson] back from college, so we’ve hung out a lot. We decided we needed to get more in the holiday spirit so we bought festive Christmas sweaters. Like the kind that have reindeer and Santa all over them. Hers lit up. I was jealous.

“In my spare time, I’ve been meeting with my production manager, set designer, and tour planners… I can’t even tell you how excited I am about the headlining tour coming up. This summer is going to be FUN.

“Christmas Eve was awesome, we went to church and then opened presents back at the house. Austin, my brother, is 16. But he acts four at Christmas. He runs around the house yelling ‘PRESENTS!’. It’s pretty great. This Christmas was amazing, and it was so insane thinking about all that’s happened this year. And I can’t believe I got to have the number one album on CHRISTMAS! That was the best gift you could’ve gotten me. Ever. I’ll never stop thanking you.

“I’ll be in New York for New Years Eve.. I’ll be performing in Times Square. Kellie Pickler and my whole band and family are going to be there, so I can’t wait to spend New Years with them. I’ve never been in NYC for New Years before, and I hear it’s absolutely life changing and the best thing ever. So I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Maybe I’ll see you there!”
