Michael Sheen joins 'New Moon'

Three time BAFTA nominee, Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) has signed on to star in 'New Moon'. Sheen will be playing Aro - the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi.

Direct Chris Weitz remarked, "Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires. Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat."

Sheen will reportedly receive $7.3 million for the role.

Kristen Stewart and on-screen love interest Robert Pattinson share a laugh on the set of New Moon in Vancouver on Friday afternoon (April 10).

New Moon-ers Taylor Lautner, Christian Serratos, Anna Kendrick, Justin Chon and Michael Welch were also seen around the set, ready to film their scenes.

On Thursday night at the Chill Winston restaurant, Kristen celebrated her 19th birthday BFF costars Nikki Reed, Rob and Jackson Rathbone.

It was just announced that 40-year-old British actor Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon) will play Aro, the leader of the deadly Volturi vampire coven.

New moon cast announcement [/b]
Los Angeles, CA April 15, 2009 – Principal photography has begun on Summit Entertainment’s THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, it was announced today by Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner reprise their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. Academy Award-nominee Chris Weitz (THE GOLDEN COMPASS, ABOUT A BOY) is the director. NEW MOON is filming on locations in Vancouver, BC and Tuscany, Italy.

Also rejoining the movie are Ashley Greene as Alice, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Kellan Lutz as Emmett, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper , Edi Gathegi as Laurent and Rachelle Lafevre as Victoria.

New cast members include the legendary Volturi, a venerable coven of vampires who weigh and impose the laws of the vampire world, as well as two new members of the Quileute Indian Nation. The Volturi include Charlie Bewley as Demetri, Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius, Daniel Cudmore as Felix, Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus, all Volturi enforcers. Dakota Fanning plays Jane, a high ranking and powerful Volturi member and Cameron Bright is Alec, her brother. Noot Seer plays Volturi member Heidi. Michael Sheen plays Aro, the Volturi leader. Graham Greene appears as Harry Clearwater, Quileute tribal leader and old friend of Bella’s father Charlie. Tinsel Korey is Emily, the fiancé of Sam Uley.

In NEW MOON, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and she finds her loyalties tested.

Jamie Campbell Bower was last seen in Tim Burton’s “Sweeney Todd” and is the lead singer of the band The Darling Buds. Daniel Cudmore played Colossus in the “X-Men” films, “X2” and “X-Men: The Last Stand.” Dakota Fanning was last seen in Summit Entertainment’s sci-fi thriller “Push” and provided the lead voice in the animated feature “Coraline.” Graham Greene earned an Academy Award nomination for his work in “Dances With Wolves,” and has appeared in such films as “The Green Mile,” “Die Hard: With A Vengeance” and “Transamerica.” Chrisopher Heyerdahl has appeared in such films as “The Chronicles of Riddick,” “Catwoman” and “Blade: Trinity.” Tinsel Korey has worked on numerous films and television shows, from “Into The West” to “The Lookout,” opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She is also a singer/songwriter. Vancouver-born Noot Seer began modeling at age 13 and has lived in New York, Barbados, Guyana and New Zealand. She was a champion horseback rider prior to her modeling career. She made her film debut in the comedy “Head Over Heels,” starring Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Monica Potter. Michael Sheen last starred opposite Frank Langella in Ron Howard’s film “Frost/Nixon,” and played Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair to Helen Mirren’s Queen Elizabeth in “The Queen.” The award-winning actor was recently seen in “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.”

Altho I still can't agree with Aro, but I just pictured him as a really old man, so that's why it doesn't fit for me!

Unlike cold-blooded neck biters, these poster guys for animal magnetism are hot. So hot that their temperature runs a steady 108 degrees, as anyone who has read Stephenie Meyer's series of gothic romances knows.

That gives them a great excuse to doff their shirts on-screen and expose the physiques they've been pumping up for playing werewolves in The Twilight Saga:New Moon, the sequel to last year's supernatural sensation, due Nov. 20.

Four actors — Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Bronson Pelletier, all with Native American heritage — join Taylor Lautner, 17, who returns as a hairier, scarier Jacob Black. The plotline finds Jacob growing closer to a distraught Bella (Kristen Stewart) after her vampire beau, Edward, runs off.

Among wolf pack job requirements: the ability to work half-naked no matter what the weather in the Vancouver, B.C., area, where the film has been shooting for several weeks.

"It's not pleasant for the actors," says director Chris Weitz. "But they have all been good-natured. They show up on location in drenching, cold rain, and I say, 'OK, off with the robes.' "

Wow it sounds exciting!
I must admit- I really think Taylor's great! I love his comment- 'I ride, she crashes'
And the dream sequence and the way they are going to put more Edward in is great- the more the better I say! Haha.

And finally we get to hear Chris talk! Maybe its just my opinion, but he seems so much more professional then Catherine was with the first movie. She always seemed so energetic and kept making weird comments like 'dude!' whereas Chris seems to be taking it a lot more seriously..
But there and again, Catherine wasn't a very good director, at all sorry to say.. whereas judging by Chris' films.. he is really good- I'm so glad he's replaced her. Just an observation

I can't wait to see that nightmare or to see the way they project Edward into the screen when Bella hears his voice!
I have to agree that it seems like this movie is going to be much better as the first one and that Chris is way better than Catherine!

Because you know how the script was leaked this week...? I couldn't help but look! Haha.. I skipped most of it (only read the Edward parts haha), but what I read was amazing!
And I can't believe its only 6 months away now, how exciting! ;D

Yeah it was actually leaked by someone else, theres quite a lot of articles about it.. but it was only a first draft of the script so theres been a few changes (though I wish they would keep it the way it is! its a lot better then the first movie), I think the one that the woman found was a final draft

And yeah I've looked around for the Dutch release but all I've found is a rumour that it's coming out late November/Early December but there's no confirmed date or something like that.. they'll probably confirm it soon ;D

The official poster for new moon is out!!

I think it looks really cool, better then the one for the first movie.. but why does this poster look like it would fit eclipse more then new moon?!? Have they changed the movie a bit to make it more Jacob/Bella? Because I thought that new moon was supposed to be more Edward/Bella... hmm.. its cool anyway!

It's indeed a bit more like Eclipse, but I think it shows the message right. Jacob wanted to protect Bella from Edward the whole time, specially after he left, so that makes sense.
And I just love it! I love how they combined the 3 of them in the poster!

I've thought of some other ways people could look at the poster as well...
Because Bella's hand is close to Edward, so are they showing that shes still trying to latch on to him, but can't and so Jacob's there instead?
The kind of glare that Edward and Jacob have could show their hatred but also the vampire/werevolves, because its this film that the wolves are introduced and they keep saying that they are vampires enemies
Another thing to notice is the sun in it.. its on the side which Bella/Jacob is on, which is kind of a representation of their friendship.. because he brings her out of the 'darkest' point of her life... meanwhile Edwards standing on the dark side representating the vampire and the fact that he didn't really want to leave...

Gah, I'm looking way too much into it lol
I need to do practice essays for my college media course, I think I could just use what I wrote there! Haha
